With the excitement of the joyous completion of the holy month of Ramadhan, it is easy to forget about the needs those who are impoverished and our obligation to provide charity to them. Therefore, we should be reminded that such people in need require our help to make it through the year. Zakat-ul-Fitrah is a special form of obligatory Zakat given at the end of the month of Ramadan, during the day of Eid.
This year the Zakat Rate is equal to three kilograms (about 6.6 pounds) of a popular food such as rice or wheat (per person). This is a AUD$ 10.00 equivalent per eligible person. For example, a family of 5 would pay AUD $50.
